The assassination of Russian ambassador to Turkey Andrey Karlov has provoked a huge geo-political response and condemnation. It is natural since any country has its diplomats and terror against them is unacceptable. The Turkish diplomacy, for example, has suffered a lot from the Armenian terror. Ankara is more interested than others in investigating the cause of the shooting of ambassador Karlov. The other side of the story is linked to violent geo-political struggle in the Middle East. After the assassination of the ambassador Russian defense minister Sergei Shoygu said Turkey played a key role in the liberation of Aleppo. Meanwhile, a meeting of foreign ministers Lavrov, Cavusoglu and Zarif was hailed as a success. Does it mean that Russia is establishing a new coalition in the Middle East? And what will be its relationship with the US-led international coalition, of which Turkey is also a member.
Experts are analyzing the visit of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani to Yerevan. The Armenian media`s coverage is full of pathos. But a deeper look at the analyses reveals some signs of prejudice. Iran and Armenia signed several documents, with the two countries expressing their interest in developing bilateral relations and implementing regional projects. For some reasons Armenian experts created anti-Azerbaijani and anti-Turkish hysteria around these developments. As if Iran gives preference to a format of cooperation with Azerbaijan and Turkey. Such a behavior of the Armenians was expected as they have always been far from objectivity. In reality, Iran and Azerbaijan now enjoy excellent relations and any confrontation between the two is out of question. Leaders of both countries are determined to develop their cooperation.
America has dominated the unipolar world since the fall of the USSR. The US is certainly the most powerful country both politically, economically and militarily. The US military budget is $582.7 billion, which exceeds the military budget of G8 countries all together. Washington is expected to increase its military spending as it leads the international anti-terror coalition. The US has and regularly uses the opportunity to interfere politically or militarily in processes taking place in any part of the world. Although America behaves as the world ruler the country almost lacks a sense of justice and does not obey the principles of international law.
Hungary also supports the steps Azerbaijan is taking towards the cooperation with the European Union. Azerbaijan is one of the participants of the Eastern Partnership programme, while Hungary is a member of the European Union. In this regard, Hungary is a supporter of the notion of differentiation between different partner countries. We consider Azerbaijan as a reliable partner, a strategic ally of the European Union, not only in the field of energy security. The growth of our relations is of importance to the EU as well.
The Republic of Lithuania recognized de jure the Republic of Azerbaijan on December 20, 1991. Since November 27, 1995 Lithuania and Azerbaijan established diplomatic relations. Both countries are actively implementing political dialogue as well as developing economic cooperation and diplomatic relations based on international principals, one of which is of great importance for the newly re-created country – it is a respect to country's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Istanbul bleeds again as a fresh wave of terrorist attacks killed dozens of innocent people. The brotherly nation once again united against the evil of terrorism. The country`s leadership reaffirmed its commitment to the development line and readiness to put zeal in this mission. Letters of condolence were pouring in from friendly countries. The President of Azerbaijan also expressed his sympathy with the Turkish nation. Experts look at this incident in a geo-political context. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said certain forces carry out a dirty trick campaign against Turkey. The terrorist attacks are committed by their servants. Ankara is determined to get to the root of the problem, and no one can stop it. Experts are now trying to forecast possible geo-political repercussions of the latest terrorist attack.
Marking the anniversaries, such as the 25th anniversary of the State Independences, is significant in terms of offering an opportunity to look back at the past, think over the achieved, summarize and analyse past events and also, based on this analysis, to make plans and decisions for the future. Mentioned 25-year period can be characterized by stable development and establishment for Azerbaijan as is for Latvia and I would say that it was uneasy as both countries had to go through many challenges in order to be successful.
Many political analysts say geopolitical uncertainty is now spreading around the world. This in fact has been spoken about for many years, but now it`s a much deeper problem. According to experts, countries are becoming weaker. Naturally, it is quite an interesting conclusion. But if this situation persists, it can put the future of mankind at risk. What is the way out? Unfortunately, no one has an idea. But there are grounds for optimism as the history has already witnessed similar situations. Taking advantage of this opportunity certainly requires tremendous theoretical and practical efforts as building a new paradigm is not an easy task.
Experts believe that Donald Trump`s coming to power in the USA will mark serious changes in the country`s foreign policy. Official Washington`s possible moves in relation to Azerbaijan and Turkey are the focus of attention. In this context, experts emphasize the fact that Donald Trump spoke on the phone to the Azerbaijani and Turkish leadership before he did so with several European heads of state. Most importantly the US President-elect openly expressed his intention to develop cooperation with both countries. Political analysts have different opinions on this. Meanwhile, Armenian experts can hardly conceal their jealousy and prejudice. They cannot bear America`s giving preference to two Muslim countries in the region. But this is reality as Azerbaijan and Turkey pursue independent policy and have remained committed to equal constructive cooperation with all countries.
India and Azerbaijan have close friendly relations and growing bilateral cooperation based on old historical relations and shared traditions. The Ateshgah fire temple in the vicinity of Baku is a fine example. This medieval monument with Devanagri and Gurmukhi wall inscriptions is a symbol of the age-old relationship between the two countries when Indian merchants heading towards Europe through the Great Silk Route used to visit Azerbaijan. In the recent past, President Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and film star Raj Kapoor had visited Baku. Famous Azeri artist Rashid Behbudov, a close friend of Raj Kapoor promoted Azeri music in India and Indian music in Azerbaijan. Famous singer Elmira Rahimova spent two years studying Indian music/dance in India in the late 1950s.
