During a meeting on the work of the Russian peacekeeping mission in Karabakh, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that for Russia the settlement of the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh is important from the point of view of internal security and economy, TASS reports.

The Russian leader noted the efficient and well-coordinated work of the Russian peacekeepers in Nagorno-Karabakh, which helped to stop the bloodshed.

Vladimir Putin also noted that all of Russia's humanitarian efforts in Nagorno-Karabakh should be for the benefit of the Armenian and Azerbaijani peoples.

Putin noted that Russia 'has centuries-old ties' with Azerbaijan and Armenia. 'This also has an internal political dimension for us, and is of great interest from the point of view of ensuring internal security, from the point of view of politics,' he said.

Russia expects UNESCO, as well as UNICEF, to join the solution of humanitarian problems in Nagorno-Karabakh, Putin said. 'I would especially like to say about the protection of historical monuments and religious shrines, both Azerbaijani and Armenian,' said the head of the Russian state.

Russia will soon send a representative delegation to address pressing problems, including humanitarian ones, in Nagorno-Karabakh, Putin said.

The Russian leader recalled that he is in 'constant contact with his colleagues in Armenia and Azerbaijan.' 'We agreed with both leaders that in the near future a Russian delegation consisting of the heads of a number of ministries and departments will be sent to Armenia and Azerbaijan,' Putin said. The task of the delegation will be to consider 'topical, most pressing issues of the implementation of the trilateral statement of November 9,' including humanitarian issues, the president explained.

'I would like to note the precise, well-coordinated work of the Russian peacekeepers,' the Russian head of state said at a meeting on the Russian peacekeeping mission in Nagorno-Karabakh.
