Turkey and Russia have signed a memorandum on a joint monitoring center to control the ceasefire in the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan, Turkish Minister of National Defense Hulusi Akar told Turkish NTV channel, Trend reports.
"We think to cooperate closely with our counterpart in the new administration of the US", said Turkey's National Defense Minister Hulusi Akar, APA reports.
'From the point of view of international law, this means that Nagorno-Karabakh and the adjacent territories were and are a part of the Republic of Azerbaijan.'
Joint efforts of Russia and Turkey stopped the military conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh, Turkish President Recep Tayyib Erdogan said at the Halifax Forum on International Security.
During a meeting on the work of the Russian peacekeeping mission in Karabakh, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that for Russia the settlement of the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh is important from the point of view of internal security and economy, TASS reports.
The decision to send Turkish peacekeeping troops to Azerbaijan has been made. In the near future, Turkish observers will head to the Nagorno-Karabakh region, TRT Haber reports, citing its diplomatic sources.
